A lethal left-footed forward with a proven track record in Asia’s elite club competitions and an impressive 101 J1 League goals to his name, Anderson is set to be a real asset for the Sailors.
After beginning his professional career in Brazil with a couple of clubs, he first entered Asian football with a loan spell at J1 League outfit Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the 2016/17 season. He went on to feature in the K League and Chinese Super League with FC Seoul and Wuhan FC respectively – stints that were interspersed with three standout seasons at Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo.
In 2022, Anderson signed for Yokohama F. Marinos and made an immediate impact, netting 11 goals en route to winning the J1 League title in his debut season. He clinched the league’s Golden Boot in the next two campaigns – sharing the accolade with Vissel Kobe’s Yuya Osako in 2023 (22 goals), before claiming it outright in 2024 with 24 goals.
The foward has particularly shone on the continental stage. In three AFC Champions League Elite campaigns, he has racked up 18 goals and six assists in 25 appearances. He finished as the second-highest scorer in the 2024/25 edition, with his tally of nine goals surpassing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Aleksandar Mitrović, and Ivan Toney.
