An excellent shot-stopper with cat-like reflexes and comfortable with the ball at his feet, Izwan is most fondly remembered for pulling off 18 saves in one incredible match. He kept Asian giants Japan at bay to help Singapore secure a memorable 0-0 draw in Saitama in a June 2015 FIFA World Cup Qualifier.

The 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup winner has gone from strength to strength in his career, playing in Thailand, one of Southeast Asia’s toughest leagues, where he represented three clubs – Nongbua Pitchaya, Trat and Samut Prakan from 2018 to 2021.

Coming onboard the Sailors in 2022, Izwan worked hard to reclaim his spot as the national no. 1 goalkeeper and played a key role in helping the Sailors reclaim the SPL title in the 2024/25 season.

A shot-stopper with immense physical attributes and brilliant reflexes, Adib is a valuable member of the Sailors’ goalkeeping department.

His potential was evident from young, and he was called up to the Singapore national team for their games against Qatar and Yemen in 2019. Adib spent the first four years of his professional career with the Young Lions, before signing for the Sailors in 2020.

Adib made his first official start for the Sailors in May 2025 against Balestier Khalsa, and has also made appearances in gala friendlies against Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham Hotspur.

A new signing for the 2025/26 season, Ivan arrives with proven credentials, combining a commanding aerial presence with consistent shot-stopping ability.

The 2.03m custodian joined the Sailors from Croatian top-tier side Slaven Belupo, where he built a reputation as one of the SuperSport HNL’s top shot-stoppers. He amassed 89 appearances over four seasons, with his most impressive coming in the recent 2024/25 campaign.

That season, Ivan kept 10 clean sheets in 35 matches across all competitions — including a standout performance in a goalless draw against Ivan Rakitić’s HNK Hajduk Split in January 2025 — and even captained Slaven on several occasions. His leadership and performances earned him a place in the HNL Team of the Season, as Slaven finished fifth — their best league finish in 12 years.

The nickname El Sicario – a Spanish term that translates to “The Hitman” in English – says it all about Toni, who takes no prisoners with his no-holds barred playing style at the heart of defence.

He brings significant experience from the Spanish second-tier, having amassed a century of appearances in LaLiga 2. The majority of these came in FC Cartagena colours, while he was also part of SD Huesca’s 2019/20 title-winning side that earned promotion to LaLiga the following season.

In a storied playing career to date, Toni has also played in top-tier competitions such as USA’s Major League Soccer with Real Salt Lake and the UEFA Europa League with Greek club Aris Thessaloniki, in addition to being capped once at the international level with Croatia.

Strong in the air and equally comfortable playing the ball out of defence, Toni enjoyed a dream first season with the Sailors in 2024/25 – making 52 appearances and was deservedly named in the AIA SPL Team of the Year.

Having established himself as one of Singapore’s finest young defenders across two separate spells at Hougang United, Lionel has taken his game to a whole next level since joining the Sailors in 2023 and is now emerging to be a key player for the Singapore national team.

The 1.84m defender is a key cog in the Sailors’ backline with his robust and no-nonsense style of defending. Having already made more than 80 appearances for the team in the past two seasons, Lionel’s experience and tip-top physical condition will stand him in good stead for yet another good campaign with the club.

As one of Singapore’s most successful footballers of all time, Hariss is a household name who was brought in to be the engine of the Sailors squad. The all-conquering midfielder joined the Sailors in 2021 after a successful eight-year spell at Malaysia Super League (MSL) side Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), where he led them to six league titles, as well as to a historic AFC Cup victory in 2015.

A natural leader who can play in the middle of the park as well as in central defence, the Lions skipper is tasked with guiding the exciting young talents at the club, as he looks to usher in a new era of success for the Sailors.

A modern-day full-back who is aggressive in the tackle and excels in making forward runs to support the attack, Zulqarnaen is an asset at both ends of the pitch. Part of the Sailors’ squad in the club’s inaugural season in 2020, he returned to play for Young Lions for one and a half seasons where he furthered his development before returning in mid-2022.

Having particular sparkled towards the end of 2023 with strong performances in the Tiger Cup against English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and in the AFC Champions League, an unfortunate anterior cruciate ligament injury in March 2024 set him out for almost a year before he returned to action towards the end of the 2024/25 season.

Now fully fit, Mamat is hungry and raring to go for a huge 2025/26 campaign ahead.

A modern full-back who is as capable of supporting the attack as he is at defending, Nur Adam is among one of Singapore’s most exciting youth prospects. While the 2018 Dollah Kassim award winner’s talent has never been in doubt, it is Nur Adam’s excellent mental strength and will to succeed that sets him apart from his peers.

After showcasing his potential by winning the SPL Young Player of the Year award in the Sailors’ first title-winning season in 2021, Nur Adam returned to feature for Young Lions in 2024/25 whilst being in National Service before returning to the club in the off-season.

Having recovered from an injury layoff, Nur Adam is determined to kick on and continue to develop his budding potential.

Widely regarded as one of Southeast Asia’s finest and most dependable defenders, Safuwan brings leadership, composure, and a wealth of experience to the Sailors’ backline.

The 33-year-old made history in 2015 as the first Singaporean to play in Australia’s A-League with Melbourne City, before cementing his reputation across the Causeway with a number of clubs in the Malaysia Super League over the past decade.

Safuwan joins the Sailors on loan from Selangor FC, as the club builds on a 2024/25 season that saw them swept everything possible in domestic football and became the first Singaporean club to reach the final of a major Asian club competition in the Asian Football Confederation Champions League (ACL) Two.

The move marks a homecoming of sorts for Safuwan, who began his professional career in 2009 with the Young Lions, before joining the LionsXII in 2012, where he won the Malaysia Super League and the Malaysia FA Cup. He then moved abroad to join Melbourne City on loan, before plying his trade in Malaysia with the likes of PDRM, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor.

He flourished for LionsXII in the 2015 Malaysia Super League, grew into a dependable first-team player over the years for various clubs, before a standout 2022 campaign for Tampines saw him become a Singapore National Team regular.

Making over 80 appearances for the Sailors since joining in 2023, Chris continues to play a big role in the club with his experience and unwavering commitment to the cause.

Bailey is an Australian international, who was a part of Australia’s 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign in Qatar that saw the Socceroos qualify from a group that featured France, Denmark and Tunisia, before falling to Lionel Messi’s Argentina, the eventual tournament winners, in the Round of 16.

An old-school robust centre-back who wears on his heart on his sleeve, he is undoubtedly one of the leading figures of the team and is a perfect role model for the younger players in the squad.

Bailey joined the Sailors in the SPL mid-season transfer window after departing Sunderland, where he was a cult hero of the Black Cats’ faithful during his three-and-a-half years on Wearside. Those years saw Sunderland enjoy much success, winning their first trophy since 1973 as they lifted the 2020/21 Papa John’s Trophy (EFL) at Wembley, before earning promotion into the English second-tier – the Sky Bet Championship – in 2022.

Bailey enjoyed an outstanding 2024/25 campaign with the Sailors, with his rock-solid performances earning him a deserved nomination for the AIA SPL Player of the Year award.

Athletic, strong in the tackle, and versatile across multiple positions, Akram came onboard in the second half of the 2024/25 season and provided depth for a side that went on to sweep everything possible in domestic football.

Akram has come a long way since making his professional debut for Young Lion in 2019, with a key part of his development coming at Tanjong Pagar where he demonstrated remarkable maturity as club captain to lead both younger teammates and seasoned players with confidence.

After making 13 appearances last season, he will be looking to stake a strong claim for a regular starting spot in 2025/26.

A powerful left-footed midfielder with excellent reading of the game and a unique skill set, Tsiy is a valuable addition to the Sailors’ engine room.

Born in Cologne to Cameroonian parents, Tsiy grew up in Germany and signed his first professional contract with Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach, featuring regularly for their reserve team in the Regionalliga (German fourth tier). He then spent the 2017/18 season on loan in the Dutch Eredivisie with Roda JC, making 32 appearances.

Tsiy later moved to Switzerland, where he amassed close to 130 Swiss Super League appearances over seven seasons. Most recently, he represented Grasshopper Club Zürich from 2022 to 2025, where he stood out for his athleticism, leadership, and ability to drive forward from midfield to contribute goals.

His consistent performances attracted interest from several European clubs, but he ultimately chose to embark on a new adventure with the Sailors in Singapore.

Rui is a defensive midfielder who spent a large portion of his youth career progressing through the ranks at FC Porto, featuring in their Under-15, U17 and U19 sides.

He was promoted to Porto’s B side to play in Liga Portugal 2, the second tier of Portuguese football, before moving permanently to French Ligue 2 side Troyes. After two seasons there, the midfielder moved back to play in the Portuguese top tier, the Primeira Liga, on loan with FC Paços de Ferreira before the deal was made permanent.

Rui previously captained Portugal’s national age-group sides on a regular basis and was called up till the U20 level. In 2017, he put up a solid display throughout the UEFA European Under-19 Championship, earning him a place in the Team of the Tournament.

After a solid 2024/25 campaign in which he formed the fulcrum for the Sailors’ exciting run to the AFC Champions League Two final, Rui is hungry to contribute more in yet another campaign which the club will represent Singapore on two continental fronts.

Having honed his craft in the Dutch Eredivisie for around a decade, Bart was a key acquisition for the Sailors when he joined in February 2024.

A versatile attacking midfielder who has the ability to play on either flank, or centrally in between the lines, he played a crucial part in a historic 2024/25 season – scoring crucial goals in the AFC Champions League Two semi-final against Sydney FC and the Singapore Cup final against BG Tampines Rovers.

He rose to prominence as a technically supreme midfield playmaker with PSV, winning the 2017/18 Eredivisie title and featuring in the UEFA Champions League with the Dutch giants. He had two spells with Utrecht, accumulating 130 domestic league appearances for them, before making the move to Singapore in February 2024.

Bart has also been capped thrice at international level with Holland – this includes a start in their 3-1 World Cup qualifying win over Luxembourg in November 2016, where he played alongside the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Wesley Sneijder, Georginio Wijnaldum and Arjen Robben.

Well-known as a speed merchant, Hafiz forged himself a reputation as a dangerous and tricky winger in his younger days. He has since done well to transform himself into a steady and committed full-back, who is capable of putting in crunching tackles as well as whipping in dangerous crosses from his flank.

Now the senior statesman at the Sailors, Hafiz is still going strong and enjoys the opportunity to impart his knowledge to the younger ones at the club.

In July 2024, he became the first player to hit a century of appearances for the Sailors and is now heading into his 15th season in professional football.

Fan favourite Song returned home to the Sailors in 2024, following stints in Thailand and Indonesia with Nongbua and Persebaya respectively the past year. Known for his superb technical abilities and unwavering commitment on the pitch, he is set to play an integral role in the Sailors’ pursuit for domestic supremacy and continental breakthough this coming campaign.

The South Korean-born attacker played an integral role in the Sailors’ initial rise between 2020 to 2022, as he carved out a reputation for scoring in critical matches. Some of his most notable goals include the opener in a 4-1 win over Balestier Khalsa that secured the club’s first-ever SPL title in 2021, as well as the strike that inspired the Sailors to a historic 3-0 win over Daegu FC in the Asian Football Confederation Champions League (ACL) – the first time a Singaporean club had beaten a K-League outfit.

In the 2024/25 season, Song starred once again with crucial goals in the ACL Two to lead the club to a first final in a major Asian club competition. Now a veteran, he will continue to impart his experience to the younger players embedded in the squad.

An elegant midfield playmaker who always seems to have an extra yard of space on the ball and has the vision to produce defence-splitting passes, Hami has long been viewed as one of the most accomplished local midfielders since making his professional debut in 2016.

He has already chalked up than 200 professional club appearances under his belt and is now going into his 11th season in the Singapore Premier League.

Hami enjoyed an excellent 2019 season with Home United – the former iteration of the Sailors – scoring the decisive penalty to help the club win the Community Shield, and also netting a long-range scorcher on his AFC Cup debut.

Hami has since kicked on to be a regular in the Singapore national team and is already a lynchpin in the Sailors’ engine room. He was undoubtedly one of the Sailors’ best performers in the recent 2024/25 season, in which he excelled in the unfamiliar position at right wing-back.

In just a few seasons in the Singapore Premier League (SPL), Maxime has already staked a claim for being the best-ever SPL import player.

In 2022, he was the league’s top-assist maker with 23 to go with 12 league goals. Then in 2023, he picked up the SPL Player of the Year gong after 25 goals and 21 assists saw him top both the SPL’s goal-scoring and assist charts, while playing a starring role in the club’s first Singapore Cup triumph.

Magic Max finally achieved his target of winning the SPL title with the club in the 2024/25 season and swept home a memorable last-minute equalising goal in the Sailors’ heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Emirati side Sharjah FC in the AFC Champions League (ACL) Two Final 2025.

Capped at all Belgian youth levels, as part of the country’s Golden Generation alongside the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Dries Mertens and Romelu Lukaku, Maxime has proven pedigree at the highest level of the game.

Being a part of PSV Eindhoven’s 2015/16 UCL squad that qualified for the Round of 16 at the expense of Manchester United and made several appearances in European top-tier competitions for various clubs, the attacker is now happily settled in Singapore and is hungry to achieve even more with the Sailors.

A tidy midfielder with ability to drive forward with the ball and dictate tempo in midfield, Josh is the latest talent to rise through the Sailors’ Elite Academy to be promoted to the first team.

Josh’s family relocated to Singapore when he was three, and he began his playing journey at Arion Football Academy, before joining Spanish Soccer Club Asia (SSCA) when he was eight. A move to the Junior Soccer School and League (JSSL) Singapore’s Academy soon followed after.

Then he joined the Sailors Academy in 2020 and steadily progressed through the ranks over the years. In 2024/25, he played a key role in the club’s Under-21s’ dominant league triumph as they finished 15 points above second-placed Tanjong Pagar United and also made his Singapore Premier League (SPL) debut on the final day of last season.

With an abundance of potential and a good head on his shoulders, the future looks bright for Josh and he is set to be a future star in the making.

A rare talent who was nurtured in and plucked from Singapore’s amateur leagues, Shawal’s stock has risen in recent years – and sharply so.

The proverbial late bloomer, Shawal is now one of Singapore’s top forwards at the moment. In 2022 he combined flair with trickery and a keen eye for goal, scoring a career-high 11 Singapore Premier League goals to inspire Hougang United to their first-ever trophy last season – the Singapore Cup.

That earned him the big move to the Sailors in 2023 and he enjoyed a stunning 2024/25 campaign with the club. That season, he scored a career-high 27 goals – including eight strikes in the AFC Champions League Two which meant he finished the tournament’s second-highest goalscorer.

Renowned for his astute positioning and relentless pressing, Lennart enjoyed a brilliant first season with the Sailors in 2024/25 with 34 goals in 47 appearances.

With over 200 appearances in Dutch football, including 173 in the top-tier Eredivisie, he possesses genuine European pedigree.

His goal-scoring prowess is evident through his tally of 54 goals across three different clubs – PEC Zwolle, VVV-Venlo, and Sparta Rotterdam – from 2017 to 2024. Lennart, who has also represented Germany at the Under-20 level, previously played in the top two German divisions before making the move to the Netherlands in 2017.

His most storied and unique achievements was winning the 2018 FIFA Fair Play Award. He received the accolade after making a blood donation to facilitate a stem cell transplant for a leukaemia patient, missing a game for VVV-Venlo against PSV Eindhoven in the process. The selfless act garnered widespread praise, and prompted a surge in donors stepping forward to contribute in the Netherlands.

A lethal left-footed forward with a proven track record in Asia’s elite club competitions and an impressive 101 J1 League goals to his name, Anderson is set to be a real asset for the Sailors.

After beginning his professional career in Brazil with a couple of clubs, he first entered Asian football with a loan spell at J1 League outfit Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the 2016/17 season. He went on to feature in the K League and Chinese Super League with FC Seoul and Wuhan FC respectively – stints that were interspersed with three standout seasons at Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo.

In 2022, Anderson signed for Yokohama F. Marinos and made an immediate impact, netting 11 goals en route to winning the J1 League title in his debut season. He clinched the league’s Golden Boot in the next two campaigns – sharing the accolade with Vissel Kobe’s Yuya Osako in 2023 (22 goals), before claiming it outright in 2024 with 24 goals.

The foward has particularly shone on the continental stage. In three AFC Champions League Elite campaigns, he has racked up 18 goals and six assists in 25 appearances. Rasaq had a spectacular first season with the Sailors, scoring a career-high 10 goals to finish as the Singapore Premier League’s joint-top local scorer along with teammate Shawal Anuar in 2023.

Rasaq has shown potential from a young age, representing Singapore at various youth levels and scoring in his first year as a full-fledged professional in 2019 before impressing with the Young Lions in 2022.

Injury slightly curtained his progress in the past season, but Rasaq is determined to kick on in this campaign and continues to build on his rising reputation as one of the best young strikers in the country.
